Dionysos Marble

Dionysos Marble

Our business, a Greek marble trade and applications company, with a tradition holding generations after generation from the famous for its sculptοrs Tinos island, and a direct connection with the precious stone and the craft of marble could not fail to hold a prominent position in its portfolio for the king of stones, the Dionysus Marble.
The absolute characteristic of evaluating the quality of stone marble has always been its whiteness. The marble from Mount Penteli of Attica, Greece, is globally recognized for its brilliant whites, which occur due to the purity of its stone body and the result of an astonishing series of geological phenomena that is literally the same age as our planet and origin from the same birthplace our universe comes from.
As light penetrates the stone, the divine natural frequency and the selective geometric self resonance of each piece of this rock is activated and its crystalline structure reflects it as soon as its presence is felt by the viewer, who is simultaneously exposed to the whiter white and stands as meteor beyond time to enjoy with awe its glow.
It is no coincidence that the word marble itself comes from the world’s oldest living language with its roots lost in the Homeric period, that is Greek.
Pentelicon marble has been used in the brightest temples of antiquity in an unrepeatable way. The Temple of the Parthenon, temples dedicated to the god of light Apollo, ancient sacred places such us Delphi and Olympia, magnificent monuments, statues and buildings dating back to more than 2,500 years were designed and crafted by famous architects and sculptors who were inspired for their creations by their favourite raw stone, the Pentelicon Marble.
It began to be mined in antiquity on the southwestern side of Mount Penteli, now called the Valley of the Cave. Today in the area of ancient quarries and at an altitude of 700 meters, one of them is still surviving in relatively good condition.
The first modern mining began in 1836, during the reign of King Otto, and continued until 1976 in various locations on the south side of the mountain.
From this Pendelikon marble many important buildings and monuments were built such as the Kallimarmaro Stadium, the Academy of Athens, the National Library and the Attalos Lodge.
Since 1976, the extraction of Pentelicon Marble has only continued on the northern side of the mountain, in the area of Dionysus, from where it takes its modern name (Marmaro Dionysus).
Dionysus marble has the same chemical composition as the primary Pentelicon. It is pure white in colour, of great clarity, without scattered veins, luminous and sparkling.

Its unique gloss is due to the combination of its incredible purity with its molecular composition and the density of its crystal grains which classifies it as thin (with a grain size of 0.01-0.5 mm).
Thin-cocked marbles such as the Dionysus Pedelicon Marble, have greater mechanical strength compared to the mid-cocked, chondrococcus and ultra-gross cocccus marbles such as the ones of Thassos island.
Its use is limited to the imagination of its owner, designers and architects who choose it for their projects.
It is flexible and at the same time dense enough that it can be cut in all dimensions and accept all finishing styles. Thus, it can find countless applications and fully serves the definition of practicality.
When the white is the desired, with the right choice of cutting and the right finish, the Dionysus Pedelicon Marble will meet even the most demanding taste. As time passes over it, it highlights its uniqueness and magnificence and promises its owner that every day it will radiate health and convey the experience of the thermal properties that natural light brings.
Pentelicon Marble of Dionysus remains what it has always been: The brilliant king of the mineral kingdom and the majestic protector of well being.
This rock becomes the conduit and the provider of a truly priceless life experience that lets you free to realise time beyond its conventional linear model, where total stillness prevails, timeless.
Our company brings selected plates of this absolute marble for the classical beauty lovers, and integrates them through a variety of decorative and constructive applications, into the modern way of life.
Did you know?
Dionysus quarry is the only underground quarry in Greece. The marble once it comes into contact with the sunrays, interacts with the atmosphere and a natural phenomenon starts taking place, through which it acquires an imperceptible golden coating, typical characteristic of its outstanding brilliance.
